So this was me in my night shirt, with my unkempt hair dreading the inevitable hair wash 💦day (which is usually after every 3 days) and which usually starts with me trying to coax my hair into behaving and lasting one more day which it clearly isn’t 😒. After which I give up and begin the tiring process which involves slathering on copious amounts of hair oil, combing out the tangles and trussing my hair up into a tight braid for a couple of hours while i dread the tiresome task of washing out the aforementioned oil which inevitably leads to sore, aching elbows (is it just me who gets tired just by washing my hair🧐) Not to mention the second round of combing, detangling & brushing that follows (which has become a lot easier thanks to the @johnmastersorganics detangler🤩). Then ofcourse there are the 4-5 hours I have to endure walking around looking like the survivor of a major frizz bomb deployment (it takes that long for my hair to settle down after wash💦 day 😳). So why this picture then? To show you that behind the photoshopped, impossible to achieve perfectionist obsessed world of social media is this reality that everyone wakes up to ( celebrities, social media stars everyone!). So let’s embrace our flaws and celebrate our imperfect, all natural selves from time to time.
💦Did you know that the face 💦wash is not only the first step in your skincare routine it is also one of the most important❓
💦It’s the first product we use on our face to take off all the makeup, wash away any product residues and if you are in Dubai🇦🇪🌵 to wash away all the fine sand stuck to the oiliness so that there is a fresh, clean canvas to work with.
💦However the fact is that most of us are using face washes/cleansers that are unnecessarily harsh and strip our skin of all moisture causing our sebaceous glands (natural glands in the skin that are responsible for maintain healthy moisture levels) to go into overdrive and produce more oil to counter the effects of the face wash. This results in an over oily 😫T-zone area for people with combination or oily skin along with breakouts and for people with dry 🍂skin well their skin just cannot produce enough moisture to keep up with the drying effects of their face wash so they end up with guess what even drier, parched skin.
💦This nugget of wisdom might seem very strange coming from a person who spent her life washing her face with everything from LUX( I don’t care how many movie stars✨ endorse it, this chemical concoction leaves your skin looking and feeling like old , dried 👢boot leather 😳) CAPRI & TIBET soaps (same moisture leeching abilities along with a overpowering jasmine fragrance😷)before moving on to a seemingly gentler DOVE (I could never seem to wash that greasy feeling off) PEARS bar (I was so fascinated by the orange see through bar) and then finally becoming a “burger bachi” 😬(Karachi aur khaas kar ke Defence waaleh from the 90’s will get this reference 😉) and moving on to Clean & Clear and St Ives & Johnson’s face washes.
💦All of which were harsh, sulphate based (back then I didn’t even know what sulphate meant not that I ever bothered reading the ingredient list of it was available at AMI’s or AGHA’s it was imported and thus good enough😬).
💦Over the years I have become a 🤓savvy and informed consumer and I make sure I read the ingredients list carefully to avoid products that contain harsh chemicals like:
☠️Ingredients like these are are skin irritants and they further aggravate your skin and have been linked to causing horrifying diseases like cancers and birth defects 😱.
💦After that shocking revelation let’s come back to the product review at hand 😋🍃The @Sukin brand is an Australian brand that makes plant based and gentle skin care. If you are looking to make the switch to a healthier face 💦wash that won’t cause a dent in your wallet this is a good brand to try. I especially like their sensitive cleansing gel because it’s soap free and doesn’t dry out irritate my skin like most face washes do. It also contains natural oils of avocado 🥑, green tea🍃 and cucumber🥒 to leave the skin soft and balanced. Plus it won’t leave your skin feeling dry and tight like most face washes do🍂 Win win✨ So try it out and let me know your experience with it 😘 Available at all Life Pharmacy stores in Dubai.
💇🏻♀️I have always had long hair for as long as I can remember and as such I have become very protective of my locks 💝.
💇🏻♀️From the time when I was a toddler and till my late teens my mom was in charge of my hair’s care and maintenance : from pinning me down with one leg and piling on coconut🥥olive and safflower oils, to tying it in the tightest of braids. Even haircuts consisted of me standing on a pile of old 🗞newspapers and my mom trimming a few centimeters at the bottom with a pair of kitchen scissors ✂️. Salons and hairdressers according to my mom and Nani(her mom) were the wicked conspirators who would chop✂️ off all my hair to sell in the black market and send me home looking like a ganji kabootri (bald pigeon🐦) God only knows where Desi moms and grandma’s come up with such analogies and stories 😓.
💇🏻♀️If all that wasn’t extreme enough mom would also carefully wash and condition and detangle my hair announcing beforehand that I was too phoohar (both inept & incapable) that I would never be able to wash the oil out 😓. And also that I would use up all the water in the tank in the process😳.
💇🏻♀️Eventually I took over the washing and conditioning part once I turned 13 stressing that I needed privacy despite her protests of (mujh se kya chupa rahi ho maine tumhe 10 saal tak nilhaya hai💧) = I’ve bathed you till you were 10 there is nothing there I haven’t seen already 😳.
💇🏻♀️The only time after that I remember my mom washing my hair when I was older was when I was 14.
💇🏻♀️Ok so backstory : I was at school and for some reason had my head stuck out our classroom window to look at god knows what down below, when the glass pane from the window one floor above me fell out and smashed on my head 😱. And when I say smashed I mean smashed like into teeny tiny smithereens. So there I was with these hundreds of micro shards of glass in my hair feeling like a character from the Tiny Toons cartoon after they have been hit on the head with an anvil 😳. Anyways this was Karachi in the 90’s so the class teacher simply told me I was perfectly fine, not to make a fuss and since I wasn’t visibly bleeding that I should go home (the last class of the day had ended during this fiasco).
💇🏻♀️Once home I told my mom about the incident, where after the initial aye haye (oh no!) tujhe kya zarroorat thee khirki se poora sar bahar niklane ki? Kahin kaanch ne baal tu nahi kaat diye??( what possessed you to stick your whole head out the window? Don’t tell me the glass damaged the hair!!😒
I was then promptly marched over to the bathroom and since I refused to take off my clothes in front of her I had to sit in my uniform in the bathtub 🛁while she meticulously removed every piece of glass from hair and washed it. 💞
💇🏻♀️Given my mom’s obsession with long hair. It’s no wonder then that even as an adult I was very attached to my hair and when I finally ventured on my own for a haircut. I was the very epitome of the pain in the ass, badgering, edgy customer who would constantly remind the hair dresser to cut as little as possible of her precious hair and then demand proof that she had not tricked me and hacked off all my hair 🤨 (Mujhe dekhain kitna kaat rahi hain) = show me how much you are cutting off 😜
💇🏻♀️I remember the first time I had bangs cut 😳the sight of the hair dresser cleanly slicing off a a foot long, thick lock of hair had me clutching the arms of the salon chair so firmly my knuckles had turned white causing the lady to stop in alarm and checking to see if I was having some of seizure 😖🙃. I remember regretting getting my hair cut the moment I got back home and ordering all sorts of hair vitamins off of amazon and measuring my hair diligently every week.
💇🏻♀️Back to the present I have managed to get over my hair related nerves finally 😋 and I actually look forward to getting my hair styled and colored every now and then a little differently each time. Pictures below 😬⬇️💇🏻♀️Luckily I have always done my research and I have always found myself in good hands so no major hair disaster stories. Except for the time when I got my hair highlighted in Karachi and I ended up with a giant white blonde streak reminiscent of a Skunk’s tail smack in the center of my head 😱. But a tantrum in the salon and a little toner helped fix that problem so whew😬
💇🏻♀️I honesty feel a haircut and color is the easiest and quickest way to freshen up your look and feel good about the way you look. So here is my very current hair cut and yes it looked so good I had to indulge in a little selfie while I was still the car 😜
Tell me your hair stories good or bad I would love to hear them 😘
Marinne Puppy is a brand i recently started following on Instagram. They are an all nutrients skincare line that targets sunspots, acne, aging, dullness and dehydration to create a brighter more translucent complexion. Created by skin treatment specialists and head chemist Sandy Tan in Cupertino CA. The company has more than 10 years of clinical research since 2006. All products are created in small batches and are free of parabens, formaldehyde and synthetic colors or fragrances.
I actually ordered the pigment corrector serum from the brand and they were kind enough to send along these generous samples of their different moisturizers which I have been wanting to try ✨I love 💞it when brands send you large enough samples that allow for multiple uses so I can decide if the product suits my skin or not before buying the full size of the product. Those one use sachets brands think they are doing us a favor by including in our purchase? I usually toss in the bin and never buy the full size of that product 😠.
Ok back to the review: the pigment serum has a oily texture so I need only two drops at a time while it hasn’t gotten rid of the four freckles on my face courtesy of the Dubai ☀️it has over all evened out my complexion and it didn’t make me break out (plus ➕plus ✨) repurchase❓Possibly.
Onto the samples : I received three of their moisturizer samples.
The white luminescence is meant to be used in conjunction with the pigment corrector serum it is a very concentrated cream so I only use a dab for my face and neck, the cream itself is very moisturizing, in terms of reducing pigmentation I haven’t used it long enough to comment on that aspect but I’m most certainly purchasing the full size.
The ultra moisture cream is a very light, non greasy cream perfect for combination skin types and also as a light moisturizer for summers.
The Ferulic moisturizer is an anti aging night cream which is also concentrated so I just used a dab before bedtime, again very moisturizing, no breakouts, repurchase❓Yes I have been looking for an anti-aging moisturizer for night time 🌙use so this will be perfect✨
How many of you have tried this brand❓
🌱Hola compańeros bloggers✨
🌱Today’s product review is about a brand that has been in the spotlight 🔦 for a while now @biossance.
🌱The company founded in Berkeley, California utilizes biotechnology to create safe, effective skincare for the skin and the environment.
🌱The star ✨ingredient featured in all their products is plant derived (their’s is derived from sugarcane). Squalene oil which is a weightless oil that instantly moisturizes the skin and locks in moisture.
🌱The eye gel contains squalene oil, Eyeseryl & Argiline to reduce dark circles and puffiness and Swiss apple🍎stem extract to brighten the under eye area.
🌱The gel itself is very light in texture, it goes on smoothly and doesn’t irritate the eyes. However since I have very dry skin under the eyes I do have to follow it up with an undereye cream since I don’t find it moisturizing enough.
🌱In terms of lightening dark circles I haven’t really noticed a significant difference 😕there. Will I continue using it maybe 🤔unless I find something better and more affordable since this is $54 for 15ml of product 💸. Have you tried this? How was your experience?
Hola companeros blogueros❣️➡️Hello fellow bloggers 😘
Lol😀 Incase you were wondering what’s going on❓I’ve recently started learning Spanish so I’m trying to practice it every chance I get 😇. Anyways back to today’s blog post ✨ Today I’ll be reviewing another Etsy brand : Erzuliecosmetics🍃
So let’s start by talking a little about the brand first. Erzulie products are all handmade in small batches, are cruelty free🐰 and vegan and are non comedogenic. The brand includes skincare as well as mineral makeup made from all natural, organic ingredients. They are however not USDA certified. The products very reasonably priced and shipping was timely. You can purchase them from their Etsy store Or from their website Erzulie.
Ok let’s move on to the review. I purchased the following products from them:
🍃The hydrating quench booster I bought this thinking it was a tinted moisturizer which it is stated as. However it I found it to be more of a regular face moisturizer since it offered literally no coverage whatsoever 🙁. It is a very good moisturizer though it’s light, non greasy and is made with skin loving ingredients like: Shea oil, Glycerin, almond oil, lecithin and grape seed oil. Would I buy it again❓ as a moisturizer maybe as a tinted moisturizer no😕.
🍃The mineral corrector so I bought this for the sole purpose of covering up my dark under eye circles. While I like the consistency it’s moisturizing and blends easily the color is not as pigmented as I would have liked. It’s more of a peach color then a darker orange/pink which works better with my skin tone. However it is made of all natural ingredients🍃like Shea butter, jojoba oil, squalene . Would I repurchase it❓I’m thinking maybe…😳 🍃The gel eyeliner Ok so I love eyeliner I feel it defines and enhances your eyes so I have been looking for an organic, all natural liner for a long time. This one while it doesn’t flake or dry out it’s not the richest black. However I do like the ease of application and the fact that it’s made from natural ingredients. Will I be repurchasing ❓Maybe 🤔…
So guys that was my review of @Erzuliecosmetics🍃. I hope you found it helpful ✨Let me know in the comments if you have tried this brand and what are your favorite products from them 😘
Until next time 💋xoxo❣️
