☀️Summer Style Series: Friday Edition☀️

☀️And it’s finally Friday! 🥳Normally during summer vacations the entire week is one big weekend. But somehow no other day but Friday actually feels like the weekend. Back to the photo: if you think I’m displaying signs of sleepiness you are actually right.

☀️This is a pre breakfast 🍳🍞most importantly pre ☕️coffee/chai picture. And regardless of how many showers🚿 I take or how much makeup I put on or how slick my hair is if I haven’t had my breakfast I will continue to look like I’ve just rolled out of bed🛏😴.

☀️On a different note I decided to try the color pink on for a change. Pink is also one of those colors I would normally avoid wearing mostly because I felt the color didn’t suit me 😳. Back to the outfit I’m wearing a hand block printed( a fabric printing technique from India that requires artisans to carve blocks of wood into intricate patterns then dip those blocks into vegetable dyes and transfer the print onto fabric in this case pure cotton). The pants are flowy, cotton palazzos which are perfect for this weather and I’m wearing my favorite style of flats the jutti/khussa in white with gold and silver hand embroidery 🥰. Cost of each piece between $25-$30 bringing the total again to under $100 for the entire look.

☀️A little BTS 🎬info: the heat was actually quiet bearable which was probably due to the fact it was only 10 am at the time and the sun wasn’t in its full blistering 🔥glory till then. So before that happens I’m off to enjoy the day and all of you have a happy friday😘

☀️Summer Style Series Part 2☀️

☀️Hey Fellow Bloggers!

☀️Hope you are having a fabulous summer. Today I bring you part 2 of my summer style series.

☀️I love mixing up pieces from my wardrobe. It instantly gives a new look to a previously worn piece and is a great way to put your own spin on a look.

☀️This particular dress is my favorite because it combines my two favorite style the desi angharka with a full length maxi and it’s pure hand made cotton so it’s not only super figure flattering it’s perfect for the scorching summers 🥵at hand.

☀️To add some western flare to this otherwise eastern look I slipped on my sleeveless denim jacket which adds all the style without the bulk. You can pair this look with sneakers for casual comfort on the go or slip on sandals or go total desi with khussas(juttis). So here is the total look as promised in the previous post. How are you styling your summers☀️?

ShopaholicBlogs: ☔️Rainy Days☔️

It’s Raining💦😍I know a lot of people will be rolling their eyes because when did rain ever inspire such joy🤩But when you live in a desert 🌵with the sun shining☀️ year round then occasional rain is a welcome sight 💕Also did I mention that to most Desi’s rain is a delightful treat ☔️As a child and a teen we (a gaggle of cousins & our youngest uncle) spent our summer vacations scanning the skies at our Nani’s(maternal grandma’s house)for any signs of dark clouds and would sniff the air for the unmistakable scent of damp earth which would signal that rain was on the way. (Monsoon ⛈season was between July & August when schools were blissfully off)In those days we had serious downpours ⛈that would last for hours🤩. And inspire hours of fun where we would be splashing around every puddle in sight in and around the house, spraying each other down with the additional water hose (despite our Nani’s admonishing that we would use up all the water in the tank 💦) Sliding down at super speeds down our slide and landing in puddles of dirt at the bottom, all the while eating piping hot pakoras with cups of chai (there is nothing like drinking steaming hot chai while trying to avoid the rain drops from falling in your cup ☕️😋)which the cook would be churning out of the kitchen in celebration of the wondrous weather ☔️So it’s not wonder that even today the sight of rain🌧gets me super excited and makes me want to go outside and start jumping around splashing in puddles and getting drenched 💦Here is to today’s glorious weather ☔️ a truly rare occurrence in Dubai🇦🇪.

📸ShopaholicBlogs : On Terrible Pictures Then & Being a Poser Now 📸

I have always enjoyed posing for pictures📸 provided that I could see them after immediately and get rid of ones that were not flattering 😳. Today with IPhones and DSLR’s and countless filters we have a lot more control over how our pictures turn out (excluding the truly hideous ones taken by others who then further embarrass you by posting the humiliating picture in which except for themselves everyone else is either suffering from red eye or is caught with their mouth open in a yawn or mid laugh or some other truly unflattering pose that shouldn’t see the light of day let alone be posted all over social media with you tagged in bold 🤬😡.

📸Growing up however we had zero control over how our pictures would turn out. I’m referring to the reel cameras of the good old days in which you had to put in a roll of film with either 24 or 36 exposures and then wait until the film roll was back from the photo studio where the pictures were developed old school style and printed onto photo paper and that could take up-to a week. During this time there was a absolutely no way to preview the pictures and you had to wait for the dreaded envelope to arrive whereupon it would be viewed by the entire family together😳. I cannot tell you how many cringe 😫worthy photos of me are still floating around in various cousins and aunties dressing table drawers that some well meaning relative often times post on FB with the hashtag #throwback or #family which illicit comments like haye yeh tum aisi theen?? (Omg! You looked like that!)Which trust me since puberty was exceptionally unkind to me are pictures that truly deserve to be set on fire🔥

📸So back to the present and a safe distance away from my unflattering early teens 😳 Every-time I get a chance to dress up I make sure I pose like a pro and bring out my inner fashionista 😘 So for today’s what I wore post i donned this gorgeous block print maxi dress in airy cotton paired with what else my red👠 juttis/khussas✨. Am I spring🌸 and summer 🌞 ready or what 😘 Tell me some of your terrible picture stories 📸

☀️ShopaholicBlogs Saturday Musings ☀️

I love brick walls💞I love the texture, the imperfections, and the warmth they bring to a room. When I was little I used to imagine creating my own city where all the buildings would be built out of bricks and not a single house or building would be rundown( this was usually when we would going past Gizri market and I would see all the debilitated buildings). Fast forward to now I have abandoned the idea of building my very own brick city (it was a tad ambitious and required trillions of dollars which let’s admit it i’m not getting my hands on anytime soon 😋💸) so I now dream of owning my own home which will of course have exposed bricks either inside and on the exterior if I can afford it💸. Nevertheless every time I come across a brick wall I always take a picture of it and save it so when the time comes I’ll have a variety of brick patterns and styles to choose from 😋. Also getting back to today’s picture isn’t today the most amazing weather a Desi girl could ask for?😍 It’s a breezy, cloudy day perfect for striking a pose in 🤩. Which brings me to the all black outfit. Black I feel is such a versatile color that lends itself to any style of dressing be it causal, formal and even on days when my hair is acting like a b**** I find when I put on a black outfit I somehow end up looking pulled together and fabulousHere I’m in my favorite breezy black top with lace detail from the @loft petites collection paired with printed pants from @oldnavy petites. The top has a knit back which makes it a perfect go between for causal and semi formal meaning I can throw on some slacks and accessories later and be ready for a night out while keeping it chill for the day in my printed pants☺️ How do you guys style your blacks?

Casual Sunday OOTD✨

🌞Hola Love bunnies🐰❣️

🌞Today’s post is all about my favorite the OOTD✨. It’s getting hotter🔥 here in Dubai which means outfits have to be loose and comfortable. Even though I love prints being petite means I have to pair them with solids to avoid looking like a walking wallpaper sample. 😋 In terms of wearing black in the 🌞summer I don’t mind it provided I pair it with something colored to breakup the darkness of the look. So here is today’s OOTD, luckily there was a lovely breeze about so it honestly didn’t feel like summer at all 😊

Outfit deets:

Top & Pants : Loft

Shoes: Toms

Accessories: Tiffany , Fabula Jewels

🌞Hope you guys enjoyed this OOTD❣️ Until next time loves 💕❣️
