ShopaholicBlogs: Bad Hair Days A Behind The Scenes Look🎬

So this was me in my night shirt, with my unkempt hair dreading the inevitable hair wash 💦day (which is usually after every 3 days) and which usually starts with me trying to coax my hair into behaving and lasting one more day which it clearly isn’t 😒. After which I give up and begin the tiring process which involves slathering on copious amounts of hair oil, combing out the tangles and trussing my hair up into a tight braid for a couple of hours while i dread the tiresome task of washing out the aforementioned oil which inevitably leads to sore, aching elbows (is it just me who gets tired just by washing my hair🧐) Not to mention the second round of combing, detangling & brushing that follows (which has become a lot easier thanks to the @johnmastersorganics detangler🤩). Then ofcourse there are the 4-5 hours I have to endure walking around looking like the survivor of a major frizz bomb deployment (it takes that long for my hair to settle down after wash💦 day 😳). So why this picture then? To show you that behind the photoshopped, impossible to achieve perfectionist obsessed world of social media is this reality that everyone wakes up to ( celebrities, social media stars everyone!). So let’s embrace our flaws and celebrate our imperfect, all natural selves from time to time.

🍃ShopaholicBlogs Reviews: Good Medicine Beauty Lab🍃

✨Let’s talk about moisturizers✨From the age of 10 – 16 the only moisturizer or cream (as we called it)we were aware of were the greasy concoctions known as Nivea in the blue aluminum tin or Cream 21 in the bright orange plastic tin. Both of which required the user to dash off to the bathroom afterwards and wipe off their face vigorously with a towel in a desperate attempt to get off the greasy sheen.

A few years later we were introduced to body shop and bath & body works concoctions courtesy of our travels and of some gifts brought by relatives living abroad✈️. Even then my daily routine consisted of slathering on whatever hand or body cream was available on my face and calling it a day. It wasn’t until I moved to the US 🇺🇸that I came upon the Olay Line at Target and i bought my very first Total Effects Lotion that I realized that there was an entire parallel universe of products dedicated for the face that I had never even known existed 😳.

Over the years I stuck with the Olay line of products trying different brands along the way but never really finding any that worked the miracles they claimed to on my skin. ☹️ It was years later when I moved to Dubai and I discovered that my staple Olay had a totally different formulation and after striking out miserably with all other mainstream skincare brands available that I seriously to started researching alternate skincare brands.

That was when I stumbled upon organic🍃, natural skincare brands and my journey of experimenting with the various organic skincare brands began. Over the years I have tried countless products from various brands and honestly there were only a handful that genuinely suited my skin and lived up to their claims. One of such products is the Clarity Face cream from @goodmedicinebeautylab.

This is the first truly matte moisturizer I have ever come across, that does not leave my face greasy. It actually has made my skin better, I rarely breakout anymore not even the pesky before period breakouts ✨my skin is hydrated and the best part is it’s made with only natural ingredients 🍃The cream is available as a 1oz deluxe sample as well so you can try it out before committing to the full size.

💦ShopaholicBlogs: Talks Face Washes💦

💦Did you know that the face 💦wash is not only the first step in your skincare routine it is also one of the most important❓

💦It’s the first product we use on our face to take off all the makeup, wash away any product residues and if you are in Dubai🇦🇪🌵 to wash away all the fine sand stuck to the oiliness so that there is a fresh, clean canvas to work with.

💦However the fact is that most of us are using face washes/cleansers that are unnecessarily harsh and strip our skin of all moisture causing our sebaceous glands (natural glands in the skin that are responsible for maintain healthy moisture levels) to go into overdrive and produce more oil to counter the effects of the face wash. This results in an over oily 😫T-zone area for people with combination or oily skin along with breakouts and for people with dry 🍂skin well their skin just cannot produce enough moisture to keep up with the drying effects of their face wash so they end up with guess what even drier, parched skin.

💦This nugget of wisdom might seem very strange coming from a person who spent her life washing her face with everything from LUX( I don’t care how many movie stars✨ endorse it, this chemical concoction leaves your skin looking and feeling like old , dried 👢boot leather 😳) CAPRI & TIBET soaps (same moisture leeching abilities along with a overpowering jasmine fragrance😷)before moving on to a seemingly gentler DOVE (I could never seem to wash that greasy feeling off) PEARS bar (I was so fascinated by the orange see through bar) and then finally becoming a “burger bachi” 😬(Karachi aur khaas kar ke Defence waaleh from the 90’s will get this reference 😉) and moving on to Clean & Clear and St Ives & Johnson’s face washes.

💦All of which were harsh, sulphate based (back then I didn’t even know what sulphate meant not that I ever bothered reading the ingredient list of it was available at AMI’s or AGHA’s it was imported and thus good enough😬).

💦Over the years I have become a 🤓savvy and informed consumer and I make sure I read the ingredients list carefully to avoid products that contain harsh chemicals like:

☠️Sulphates

☠️Parabens

☠️Propylene Glycol

☠️Toluene

☠️Synthetic fragrances

☠️Formaldehydeyde

☠️Triclosan

☠️Phthalates

☠️Ingredients like these are are skin irritants and they further aggravate your skin and have been linked to causing horrifying diseases like cancers and birth defects 😱.

💦After that shocking revelation let’s come back to the product review at hand 😋🍃The @Sukin brand is an Australian brand that makes plant based and gentle skin care. If you are looking to make the switch to a healthier face 💦wash that won’t cause a dent in your wallet this is a good brand to try. I especially like their sensitive cleansing gel because it’s soap free and doesn’t dry out irritate my skin like most face washes do. It also contains natural oils of avocado 🥑, green tea🍃 and cucumber🥒 to leave the skin soft and balanced. Plus it won’t leave your skin feeling dry and tight like most face washes do🍂 Win win✨ So try it out and let me know your experience with it 😘 Available at all Life Pharmacy stores in Dubai.

Shopaholic Reviews : Marinne Puppy🐶 Pigment Corrector Serum

Marinne Puppy is a brand i recently started following on Instagram. They are an all nutrients skincare line that targets sunspots, acne, aging, dullness and dehydration to create a brighter more translucent complexion. Created by skin treatment specialists and head chemist Sandy Tan in Cupertino CA. The company has more than 10 years of clinical research since 2006. All products are created in small batches and are free of parabens, formaldehyde and synthetic colors or fragrances.

I actually ordered the pigment corrector serum from the brand and they were kind enough to send along these generous samples of their different moisturizers which I have been wanting to try I love 💞it when brands send you large enough samples that allow for multiple uses so I can decide if the product suits my skin or not before buying the full size of the product. Those one use sachets brands think they are doing us a favor by including in our purchase? I usually toss in the bin and never buy the full size of that product 😠.

Ok back to the review: the pigment serum has a oily texture so I need only two drops at a time while it hasn’t gotten rid of the four freckles on my face courtesy of the Dubai ☀️it has over all evened out my complexion and it didn’t make me break out (plus plus ) repurchasePossibly.

Onto the samples : I received three of their moisturizer samples.

The white luminescence is meant to be used in conjunction with the pigment corrector serum it is a very concentrated cream so I only use a dab for my face and neck, the cream itself is very moisturizing, in terms of reducing pigmentation I haven’t used it long enough to comment on that aspect but I’m most certainly purchasing the full size.

The ultra moisture cream is a very light, non greasy cream perfect for combination skin types and also as a light moisturizer for summers.

The Ferulic moisturizer is an anti aging night cream which is also concentrated so I just used a dab before bedtime, again very moisturizing, no breakouts, repurchaseYes I have been looking for an anti-aging moisturizer for night time 🌙use so this will be perfect

How many of you have tried this brand

Shopaholic✨Reviews : Erzulie Cosmetics 🍃

Hola companeros blogueros❣️➡️Hello fellow bloggers 😘

Lol😀 Incase you were wondering what’s going onI’ve recently started learning Spanish so I’m trying to practice it every chance I get 😇. Anyways back to today’s blog post Today I’ll be reviewing another Etsy brand : Erzuliecosmetics🍃

So let’s start by talking a little about the brand first. Erzulie products are all handmade in small batches, are cruelty free🐰 and vegan and are non comedogenic. The brand includes skincare as well as mineral makeup made from all natural, organic ingredients. They are however not USDA certified. The products very reasonably priced and shipping was timely. You can purchase them from their Etsy store Or from their website Erzulie.

Ok let’s move on to the review. I purchased the following products from them:

🍃The hydrating quench booster I bought this thinking it was a tinted moisturizer which it is stated as. However it I found it to be more of a regular face moisturizer since it offered literally no coverage whatsoever 🙁. It is a very good moisturizer though it’s light, non greasy and is made with skin loving ingredients like: Shea oil, Glycerin, almond oil, lecithin and grape seed oil. Would I buy it again as a moisturizer maybe as a tinted moisturizer no😕.

🍃The mineral corrector so I bought this for the sole purpose of covering up my dark under eye circles. While I like the consistency it’s moisturizing and blends easily the color is not as pigmented as I would have liked. It’s more of a peach color then a darker orange/pink which works better with my skin tone. However it is made of all natural ingredients🍃like Shea butter, jojoba oil, squalene . Would I repurchase itI’m thinking maybe…😳  🍃The gel eyeliner Ok so I love eyeliner I feel it defines and enhances your eyes so I have been looking for an organic, all natural liner for a long time. This one while it doesn’t flake or dry out it’s not the richest black. However I do like the ease of application and the fact that it’s made from natural ingredients. Will I be repurchasing Maybe 🤔

So guys that was my review of @Erzuliecosmetics🍃. I hope you found it helpful Let me know in the comments if you have tried this brand and what are your favorite products from them 😘

Until next time 💋xoxo❣️

Shopaholic Reviews: Shirley Conlon Body Butter🍃

Hola Love Bunnies🐰!

🍃Hope you are all doing awesome! I have been fairly absent from blogging lately 😖, but I have been so bogged down with studies I simply couldn’t find the energy to pen down anything for the blog 😩.

🍃Anyways I’ll try to be more regular starting today and you guys can expect to see a new post every week 😬. So today’s post is a product review featuring a local Dubai brand : Shirley Conlon Body Butter.

🍃I can across this brand when I was searching on Instagram for locally made organic skincare products. I had run out of my diy body cream and the ingredients to make any more batches😓. So while the new ones were on the way I needed something to keep my skin moisturized💦.

🍃The hard water 💧and dry ☀️weather makes for really itchy and dry skin here in the UAE. So long story short I placed an order via the website and a week later my product was delivered. I paid 140 aed which is around $38. Steep 💸 I know 😓 but the product sounded promising so I figured maybe it would be worth it …. Not!

🍃First off the Body Butter was more like body oil 💦it was totally melted and had leaked all over the plastic container it came in as well the packaging😡. Which was annoying but I figured ok it’s a natural product they don’t use chemicals or binders so no big deal I’ll keep it in the fridge to harden up. Now please note it was listed on the website as a whipped cream consistency.

🍃However once I took it out of the fridge it had solidified into a solid block 😳. So I figured never mind I’ll keep it out at room temperature which in my house is around 24 degrees 🌡celcius and it will soften up. Guess what? It turned back into a melted mess again! 😫 I was like what on earth?! I paid💰 that much for a tub of oil?!

🍃Part of me wanted to chuck it out because I was totally frustrated by that point. I mean if I wanted a body oil I would have just gotten one that was just that: an oil! 😖. I didn’t want to call them and complain because they had taken over a week to ship out the damned thing with no communication in between whatsoever, so I wasn’t expecting any amazing customer service from them anytime soon.

🍃So here’s what I did instead I had about  half a jar of my diy cream left so I melted  my cream and mixed it with the tub of Shirley Conlon Body Butter/Oil 😒 and cooled the lot together in the freezer for a few mins and then whipped it with my handy little mixer into voila : a cream!😍 And it worked ! I had a jar of creamy body butter at last! 🎉

🍃Whew! I was so thrilled ! I was honestly pissed into speechlessness when I saw what I had received from the company. However a little ingenuity on my part saved the day, my cash and the product😇.

🍃Here is the finished version of the body cream or butter I chucked the offending jar of Shirley Conlon out and reused my old diy cream jar 😍.

🍃Doesn’t that look creamy and delicious❓😉. I’m so happy it worked out in the end 😇. Would I recommend Shirley Conlon products ? No way! I think I’ll stick to making my own creams from now on ✨.

🍃Have you guys ever bought any products that were total disasters? Let me know about them in the comments section 😘.

🍃Until next time loves 💕💋!

🍃Shopaholic’s Review : Lush Mask of Magnaminty🍃

🍃Hello peeps❣

🍃It’s product review time again and this time we are reviewing my favorite product to use in the summer: face masks

🍃I apply face masks atleast 4-5 days a week in the summer🔆. While that may seem excessive to most people, during summers my skin goes into oil overdrive, mins after after I wash my face its sticky and greasy again. TMI❓😉

🍃My favorite masks from Lush are the Ayesha and the Love Lettuce💞.

🍃However both of those masks need to be refrigerated which was not an option for me as I was traveling. So I picked out the Mask of Magnaminty from the Lush store in Oxford Street. The Mask of Magnaminty is a self preserving mask, meaning it has an abundance of honey which means it’s travel friendly since it doesn’t require refrigeration❄️.

🍃The mask is primarily meant for acne prone skin and contains peppermint and China clay for a deep pore clean, aduki beans for exfoliation and vanilla to calm the skin. I just slather it on leave it for 10 mins and then rinse it of, it clears away all the oil and leaves the skin with a minty tingle.

🍃I think it’s a good mask for freshening up the skin, that being said I don’t enjoy using it as much as I did the Love lettuce or Ayesha. With those masks I could see my skin actually glowing✨ and feeling very soft and hydrated. This mask does help with the oil factor but I didn’t really see an amazing or noticeable difference in my skin.
🍃Will I be repurchasing this mask❓I don’t think so I’ll stick with my other Lush favorites 💞. However for traveling or hassle free storage this is a good, basic mask.
🍃What are some of your favorite Lush masks❓I would love to know 😘

🍃Until next time xoxo💋❣
