☀️Shopaholic Reviews : La Rochay Posay Sunblock☀️

Hola Love Bunnies🐰💕

It’s product review time again here on the blog ✨. Today I’ll be reviewing a skincare item that is a must have for everyone regardless of your age or gender : Sunscreen or Sunblock ☀️.

☀️I’m sure you are all aware of the dangers of exposing you skin to the harmful ultra violet rays of the sun. Unprotected and prolonged exposure to the sun can cause a number of skin related problems including but not limited to  :

☀️Hyper-pigmentation

☀️Early aging

☀️Skin Cancer

☀️Therefore protecting your skin is imperative when being in the sun. For people of color like myself it is especially important as my skin tends to go into an overproduction of melanin if I have repeated unprotected exposure to the UV rays.

☀️That being said choosing the correct sun protection for the skin can be a bit daunting given the staggering array of products and brands offered in stores. For me personally a few things are very important when choosing a sunscreen .

1- ☀️It has to be oil free and streak free. There is nothing worse than heading out in the boiling weather with your face covered in a oil slick and worse white streaks 😳!

2-☀️It should provide coverage. Since I don’t wear foundation or concealer on a daily basis, a Sunblock that does double duty (protection + coverage) is a winner in my book.

3-☀️It should have a SPF factor of between 30-50. In case you didn’t know the higher the SPF the longer time in terms of protection you get which means fewer reapplications.

☀️The one brand that satisfied all my requirements ended up being:

                     ☀️La Rochay Posay ☀️

☀️The product comes in a 5o ml tube with an airless pump dispenser. It has a tinted dry touch gel creme texture which means no greasy after feel and offers an SPF of 50 against UVB and UVA rays.

☀️I found it easy to apply and it provided just the right amount of light coverage which helped blur out any discolorations on my face. I’ve attached an unretouched picture below 😱 (0️⃣ filters on this picture 😳 ack!). I’ve applied the product on one side of my face so you can see the extent of the coverage.

☀️In terms of applicability the product stayed put and didn’t melt off my face even after a few hours. Granted I was indoors for the most part. 😏 So I cannot at this point comment on its performance outdoors.

☀️All in all this is one sunscreen I actually don’t mind using everyday 😍. Considering the fact that normally I hate applying sunscreen due to its greasy feel and the peculiar, artificial white sheen most of them leave behind 😳.

☀️Have you guys tried this brand ? How did you like it? Do let me know in the comments and what is your preferred brand of sun screen? Share with me here!😘

Shopaholic Beauty Solutions: Under Eye Circles 🐼

Hola Love 🐰 Bunnies!

Today I’m going to be discussing a problem and dispelling some myths about a persistent beauty concern that plagues both men and women :”Dark circles” .

🐼Did you know that each year over $1billion worth of eye care products are bought by consumers? That’s some serious cash 💰 being spent each year to try and correct a problem that doesnt seem to respond any type of skincare product regardless of the claims made.

🐼Over the years I too have played the part of the gullible, willing consumer clamoring for the latest new product to hit the store  shelves :  everything from creams, gels, roller ball serums, homemade masks, iced teaspoons even microneedling 😖ouch! In a series of failed attempts to try and rid myself of these persistent dark shadows that have me fending off questions like : Didn’t you sleep last night? Are you sick? 😒

🐼Finally burnt out from my ⚗️experiments I decided to pay a visit to a couple of dermatologists to try and figure out the mystery behind solving this predicament.

So here is the verdict

🐼Dark circles if hereditary meaning if they are not caused by lack of sleep or a poor diet cannot be removed via topical applications like creams, gels, serums or if you are a DIY queen 👸🏼 via 🍋 lemons, aloe vera gel, vitamin capsules , cucumbers 🥒 or 🥔 potatoes.

🐼Serious dark circles which are sometimes accompanied by hollows under the eyes can only be treated by fillers or laser therapy or a combination of both.

🐼Now here you have a few options ; you can either opt for cosmetic fillers : Juvederm, Restalyne etc and follow that up with a few sessions of laser therapy ( your doctor will decide based on your individual case which laser to use).

🐼Your second option if you are vary of cosmetic fillers which I totally am btw 😣. Is to opt for PRP or platelet rich plasma therapy which involves injecting the plasma in your own blood in the troublesome areas . Personally if I ever do get over my terror of needles the latter will be the option I will be looking into. The idea of injecting my own blood while squeamish is still a much safer option than cosmetic fillers which come with their own set of complications : bruising, lumpiness to name a few not to mention hideously expensive. 💸

🐼So there you have it peeps a short and hopefully informative insight into the mystery of dark circles and how to go about getting rid of them. Hope this post was helpful to those of you struggling with this problem and will end up keeping you from spending your hard earned💸 money on useless creams and potions.

🐼Hey if nothing else you can atleast invest in a few good concealers to camouflage those panda rings while you makeup your mind about which treatment to pursue.

If you have any other info about dealing with dark circles I would love to hear it 💕. Leave me a comment below 😘

🍃Shopaholic reviews : Aztec Secret Indian Beauty Clay🍃

Hola Bunnies 🐰💕

🍃Today on the blog I will be reviewing a product that I found to be highly rated by beauty bloggers and highly reviewed on Amazon : “The Aztec Secret Indian Beauty Clay”.

🍃Consisting of 100% calcium bentonite clay it is supposed to rejuvenate, refresh and beautify your skin. Isn’t that what they all claim 😒. 🍃The clay is to be mixed with either 💦 , apple 🍎 cider vinegar or rose 🌹 water to make a thick paste which you apply leave on for 10-15 ⏲mins or till it dries and wash off. For me the mask got uncomfortably tight as it dried and to be very honest I saw no difference whatsoever in my skin post the application. 😭

👎🏻I have had way better results with my DIY masks then this . Neither did it make any difference to acne prone skin ( I made my sister try it on her breakouts). All in all I give it a big fat thumbs down 👎🏻.

🍃Have you guys tried this product? Which mask would you recommend let me know in the comments down below 😘

Shopaholic Reviews : Conatural 🍃

Hello Loves💕

As you are probably aware I have been away on summer☀️ vacations all this time which explains my absence from blogging 😋. However while I was here I continued my hunt for natural🍃 locally made skincare products and starting today I’ll be reviewing all of my favorites and not so favorite products.

➡️One important thing to note 📝 down : A lot of skincare products here in Pakistan use the term organic🍃 in their labeling even though the ingredients they use are NOT certified organic. At the most the ingredients will be locally sourced but again there is no guarantee of them being 💯 % organic so it’s best to use your own judgment and apply the ” if something sounds to good to be true it isn’t”rule here.

Ok let’s start with one of the more popular “organic🍃” brands : Conatural .

🍃The company website states they are an ISO 22716 certified company which means their mauufacturing procedures are up to code which is always a good thing. Hopefully it means no ungloved, grimy hands are meddling with your skincare products always a plus➕ for me 💕.

They claim to use certified organic oils in their products but no where on their products or website does it state where this certification comes from. As far as i know no such organization in Pakistan exists 🇵🇰 that offers certification for products meeting guidelines for being 🍃organic. Come to think of it no such guidelines exist either hmm🤔…  Also since their products don’t display any internationally recognizable certified organic seal(s) I wonder what’s the rationale behind this claim being certified organic 😐.

Ok moving on to the actual products, they offer a good variety of products ranging from hair and body oils to shampoos, anti aging skincare and face masks and very pretty vintage packaging particularly for their facial skincare.

I also applaud their choice of colored glass containers which increase the products shelf life while decreasing light degradation of the ingredients. I chose to try three of their products :

🍃The age defying serum is a water based serum with glycerine and aloe. It is a very basic serum that absorbs quickly with no stickiness but other than that it has made no remarkable difference to my skin. I’ll give it a 5/10.

🍃The advance super revitalize cream is supposed to lighten your skin gradually without the use of steroids or harsh bleaching agents. It is supposed to be used nightly and so far I like using it. It goes on non greasy and is very moisturizing. I’ll give it 2 more months to see if it lives up to its lightning claim overall a good basic nighttime moisturizer. 7/10.

🍃The “organic” age defying cream. This has to be the worst product here 😡. It is beyond greasy ! The moment I put it on my face and I swear I put the size of a tiny bead maybe even less and I diluted even that with the age defying serum it made my face  super greasy. I was wiping off beads of sweat 💦 off my face all day I just couldn’t understand it😖. I made my sister who has super dry skin try it thinking maybe it would suit her but she complained of the same thing 😲. 3/10 ( Just because I like the packaging 😉).

Would I try Conatural products again ? I think not. Their prices are quiet steep approx $22 for the face moisturizer and for me the products didn’t deliver. 👎🏻

Have you tried conatural how was your experience?

🍃Next blog post is for a brand I stumbled upon and happened to like a lot Aura.Crafts. Stay tuned for the review coming up soon 😘

Shopaholic DIY : Rose 🌹 scented face and body cream 🌹

Hello Loves!

Welcome to another DIY post 😘. Since I had so much fun making my own DIY lip balm I decided to give face and body creams a try ✨ Making your own creams and butters can appear a bit daunting at first but if you use a few pure, ingredients it really is very simple. Just remember this one ☝️ cardinal rule : ‼️Anytime you add water, extracts, gels or tinctures to an oil/butter mix you will need to add preservatives‼️

Meaning as long as your cream/butter mixture contains oils, essential oils and butters you can use them without refrigeration or the need for any preservatives. However since water 💦 creates an environment for mold and bacteria you will need a preservative or your cream/lotion/butter will develop mold and go rancid even if you refrigerate it.  Also please note that vitamin E 🚫oil is not a preservative and will not prevent mold from forming you will need a chemical preservative.

Ok now that we have all the ominous⚠️ stuff out of the way let’s get started with our DIY✨

You will need :

🌱3/4 cup Shea butter
🌱3/4 cup cocoa butter

(Make sure you use the raw , unrefined version, you can easily find these and all the other ingredients used in this recipe at Amazon or your local organic store).

🌱1/2 tsp 🐝beeswax pastilles or 2 tsp arrow root powder.

( Beeswax binds the oils and butters together, while arrowroot gives the cream a slightly matte feel which I find perfect for the summer when you don’t want a greasy after feel from your cream especially if you are planning to use it on your face. If using the arrowroot omit the beeswax if you use both you will end up with a somewhat firmer texture to your cream. If you want a lighter texture just use the arrowroot powder).

🌱1 tbsp each of avocado 🥑 oil , jojoba oil  and almond oil.

🌱1 tsp of Rose hip seed oil

🌱1/2 tsp of neem oil ( Neem oil is a great anti inflammatory oil and helps prevent breakouts. However it has a very strong, bordering on stinky odour so if you find you cannot😷 stand the smell use tea tree oil instead).

🌱30-40 drops of your favorite essential oil for fragrance (I chose Rose 🌹 Geranium oil).

🌱Start by sterilizing your equipment, I wiped down my utensils with alcohol 🍺 swabs and air dried them.

🌱Next heat up your shea and cocoa butter along with the beeswax ( if you are adding it) in a heat proof container placed over a pan of simmering water. 🌱Stir together until the butters are melted through.

🌱Cover with plastic wrap and place container in the freezer for 10 ⏱mins to cool down and thicken slightly. 🌱This is what your mixture will look like after about 10 mins slightly thick but not frozen. At this point add in the oils, the arrowroot powder (if using) and start whisking with your electric mixer you can also use a stand mixer if you have one and make your task less labour intensive 😘.

🌱After about 10 mins your mixture will start to resemble a thick whipped cream 😱😍. 🌱Add in your essential oil and continue to whip or mix until the cream thickens and sticks to the whisks. 🌱And voila✨ your homemade cream is ready!🎉 All that’s left now is to transfer it your storage container and it’s ready to use 😍. Make sure you sterilize and dry your storage containers ‼️remember water breeds mold ‼️. The cream will keep easily for several months at 25 🌡degrees C (that’s the temperature indoors here) if it’s hot where you live keep it in the refrigerator ❄️. 🌱This cream is buttery soft, melts on contact with your skin and is non greasy thanks to the arrowroot powder. The geranium oil adds a lovely floral scent 💐. It’s very concentrated so a little will go a long way. Plus the best part is it is all natural and contains zero chemicals✨.

🌱Do try this recipe and let me know how it turned out for you 😘

Until next time loves xoxo💋!

🎭Shopaholic Reviews : Sheet Masks 🎭

🎭Hello Loves!

🎭So the weather here has started to warm up already 😭 which means it’s time to start investing in a summer skincare regime.

🎭I’ve been hearing a lot of rave reviews about sheer masks lately so I thought about giving them a try. I picked up this sheet mask from Boots at 25 aed.

🎭As per instructions you are supposed to leave it on your face for 10-15 mins for the ultimate spa experience at a fraction of the cost 💸. The mask is a standard size which meant it was too large for my petite face 😋. It comes pre cut with openings for the eyes and mouth and contains the moisturizing and hydrating mixture and also made me look like a knife wielding murderer 🔪.Nope I’m not uploading that picture here 😋. 🎭Despite being at room temperature the mask felt very cold and to be honest slimy 😱. I didn’t enjoy the feel of it on my face at all 😮 honestly I couldn’t wait to take it off 😕. Afterwards my skin did feel soft and a bit sticky I had to wash my face and apply my regular moisturizer. ☹️

🎭So at least it wasn’t a total loss, I got to experience the latest beauty rage and realize it was not for me at all 😒 and I didn’t end up breaking the bank.

🎭Have you guys tried sheet masks ? What was your experience like? Which brands would you recommend I try?

Let me know in the comments 😘

Until next time 💕

✨Shopaholic Reviews: Fade Out Eye Defense ✨

Hello Everyone!

Today we are going to talk about everyone’s favorite beauty peeve “dark circles”. Aah yes the much coveted 🐼panda/raccoon eye that we all love to hate and are forever trying to desperately conceal with a myriad of makeup and skincare hacks.

Here’s the thing with the exception of babies👶🏻 and toddlers almost everyone of us is plagued with some degree of darkness around our eyes. For me it’s been a lifelong struggle that’s getting progressively worse with age I might add.

I have tried, raved, scoffed and tossed practically every mainstream product you can name. While most have been utter failures, some have offered various degrees of improvement, none to date have managed to rid me of my dark predicament in its entirety.

Still being the gullible fool I am, I continue to fall for every new product that claims to brighten and lighten ✨. So here’s presenting yet another miracle in a tube 😒. The FadeOut Eye Defense Cream with SPF 25.  .

A little disclaimer here: I’ve used FadeOut products in the past with meh results so I don’t know why I bought this one 🤔.Must have been an impulse/out of desperation purchase 😳. Ok back to the efficacy of the product. I have been using it for 3 weeks now and I have to say it’s made an improvement with my under eye woes. The circles are definitely lighter though they haven’t altogether disappeared. I find I can get away with a bit of illuminator under the eyes as opposed to before when I would have to begrudgingly slather on concealer ( which I hate btw because it always creases 😡)It also has the added benefit of having SPF and anti aging properties. Texture wise it is light cream that is easily absorbed. It is not very moisturizing so you will need to follow with your regular moisturizer.

Overall I would give this product 4/5 ✨. It’s not stellar (are they ever ?😒) But it does a fairly good job so go on give it try and let me know what you think 😘

Until next time loves xoxo 💋
